Heat Pumps and MVHR: Management and Servicing

Netzero Group is one of Ireland’s leading providers of management services for both residential and commercial heat pumps and Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR) systems.

What Are MVHR Systems?

MVHR systems work by continuously extracting stale air and excessive moisture via ceiling ducts and then filtering in fresh air. These systems are best suited for residential dwellings.

When residents need to filter out cooking odors or humidity from the shower, the system can be manually boosted for increments of time using the control panel, but automatic sensors are also often used to detect these types of activities.

MVHR Servicing

Ensuring MVHR systems are regularly serviced ensures the removal of any build up of dust, debris, and other environmental pollutants and keeps the system working as efficiently as possible.

Filters need to be inspected at least once every 6 months and replaced every 12. A deeper cleaning of the system’s ducts is recommended every 3 to 5 years.

What Are Heat Pumps?

Heat pumps are electrical HVAC units that absorb heat from the surrounding outdoor air and release that heat into the indoor space. These units can also be used to cool the indoor air by using the reverse process and transferring warmer air outside.

Heat Pump Servicing

To ensure your heat pump operates as well as possible and remains in warranty, you should schedule annual maintenance.

A servicing appointment includes visual checks, measuring the system pressure, opening and inspecting the inner workings, operational inspection of the hot water cylinder, and a check of the system’s automated controls.
